Simplicity brings balance, freedom, and joy!
"Too many material possessions complicate our lives to a greater degree. They can keep us from the ones we love and from living a life based on values."
Several weeks ago, I stumbled upon this article
I found it interesting due to how my family just celebrated Christmas.
Christmas, to me, is a time of stress and anxiety. Stress over decorating the house. Stress over cleaning for upcoming parties. Stress over what gifts to buy for loved ones. Anxiety over- Did I buy enough? Does one person have more gifts than the other? Even though I spend the same amount of money per person, for some reason I have come to believe that it's all about quantity over quality. Sadly, I always decide that I need to "even up" the quantity of gifts so back to the store I go to deal with more stress & anxiety. Then there is the back breaking, dreaded gift wrapping. UGH- I need a vacation.
This year, I approached my husband about a new idea for Christmas. NO GIFTS under the tree! Let's give the gift of memories and travel.
Needless to say, this did not go over well.
My husband grew up with many traditions during the holidays to which we have stayed tried & true for 21 years. I was offering new traditions. I knew it was not going to be easy to get him to agree. So, after weeks of discussion, we compromised: 2 meaningful gifts under the tree to open Christmas morning then we travel.
After it was all said and done, my husband had a great time traveling and enjoyed our new tradition while sticking with the old ones that were just downsized and a lot simpler.
All my pondering on simplicity brings me to thoughts of Zion Retreat. You would think that traveling would stop me from thinking about Zion. It's just the opposite! I am always comparing places to Zion. Hmm, we need what this place has for its customers. Hmmm, maybe we should start doing this at Zion. Hmmm, Hmmm, Hmmm........ but is "stuff" really what we need when, I believe, we have so much more.
At Zion, we pride ourselves on simplicity. At Zion, you won't find a large lodge with elevators, glass chandeliers, a spa, a golf course and 24/7 staffing. At Zion, you will find simplicity to bring balance, freedom, and joy to your life.
At Zion Retreat you can:
---Reconnect with loved ones
---Release yourself from time commitments
---Enjoy freedom from technology
---Take responsibility for your mind
---Use #vitaminN for good mental health
My wish for everyone in 2019 is to focus on simplicity. Reconnect-Release-Enjoy.

I challenge you to visit Zion this summer and kayak on the main lake. Tell me if you experience the same peace as me.
